AND I...

AM BA-A-CK! :)

Yes (as much as I wish I was still there) I am back from Alaska and have been for awhile! We have been busy with life in this house! I have so much to post about but lets just start at the beginning...

Our trip was absolutely fabulous... in every way. We had fun relaxing, eating great food, seeing friends and colleagues, 'adventuring,' and, of course partying (Mary was involved after all! JK!!)!

We started the trip in Vancouver, Canada. It was beautiful! Our hotel was state of the art (thank you Johnson and Johnson!) and we had some amazing Thai, sushi, and french. This next pic is the view from out hotel room...

This is the olympic torch! How cool is that!! It was about a block from our hotel.

We were starving when we arrived so we got a few recs from the hotel and ventured out. We walked down the main shopping street and found a cute spot. We loved seeing all the Canadian shopping and marveled at the cleanliness of the city! Cheers to a fabulous start!!!

Then we took a water taxi to an island that is basically a huge farmers market! It was neat to see the fun wares of the city. One of my great college friends is studying in Vancouver and he picked us up from there to show us around his seminary. It was so fabulous to see his world. He took us to a local sushi spot then a poetry reading. After that we went to this garden...

He took us to this amazing rose garden with breathtaking views of the city. It was great to relax and catch up! At this point we had been up for 23 hours straight so we headed back to the hotel for some much needed sleep.

The next morning we didn't have to get on the boat until 12:30 so we ventured out to find some more 'authentic' (HA!) canadian food... FRENCH! It was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I want to go back to Vancouver just to eat there again! SOOO GOOD! Above is the food and below are the drinks.

As you can see we had a great first day! Stay tuned to actually hear/see about ALASKA!! :)
