Emmys School Open House

Emmy had a fun open house at her school the other day...
...and can I just say we JUMPED at the opportunity to equate school with fun (something we are in much need of in her world).

The girls loved sitting in the firetruck and Emmy loved when they gave her smarties!... I think they may have a lifetime friend in her.

Gabby insisted she wear her shingaurds to the picnic and I am working on letting her have control of *some* things in her life.

Ems school also had the snow cone truck for the kids... Gabby now thinks Emmys school is the greatest EVER! I just wish she could share some of that excitement with Ebear! :)

SHREK

We had the amazing opportunity to take Gabby girl to Shrek at the Fabulous Fox a few weeks ago... it was amazing!!

Here is the story...

scary GREEN monster,
+
loud music,
+
all kinds of crazy costumes,
+
8 pm showtime
=
DOWNRIGHT CRAZY PARENTS

We were beyond excited that our big kid LOVED EVERY MINUTE of the show!

Color me green... I was shocked!

Our Gabby is scared of her shadow...literally. She can't watch Disney movies without shaking and crying in fear...yet she loved this show.

Go figure!

At intermission, she started crying because she thought it was over... quickly calmed down when we explained that it was only half-time.

Here are a few pictures...

Grandma, Daddy, and Gabby

Showing us where Shrek was dancing (taken before we found out pics are NOT allowed) (OOPS)

Can you see the excitement! :)

I also have to say that we were in the club level and it was perfect because we could snack!
Thanks Shrek for giving my oldest, sweet girl a fabulous first experience!

Emmys Bubble Birthday!

What a great party!!!

Our sweet little Emmy had so much fun with her bubble birthday!

This is the invitation that I made for the party...it was three 'bubbles' stacked on top of each other and tied with a bubble wand. I used the 'bubble font' for the invites and continued the theme with embroidered items in the same font.

We have a fabulous prayer request list with Dereks side of the family and one of mine for this month was for the weather... we had ALOT (like 27+) of little ones coming and all of the activities were for outside. Yes... weather was a HUGE factor and as I have no control over that...I just PRAYED... HARD!! And, what do you know! The weather was not only PERFECT (sunny, 76 degrees) it was also sandwiched between lots of nasty weather on each side... UMMM Thanks GOD! :)

So here is the party...

The front door had bubbles to set the theme and everyone loved them!

I love this tradition that I started last year at her first party... it is a photo tree that hangs. My mother in law gave it to us years ago and I just love it! All the pictures are of my sweet little two year old!

and here she is! I made her this bubble dress for the party and she thought it was great! This is what she did the whole party... just run and play and run! She loved all the bubbles... she kept putting her face right up in front of the bubble machines. We joked that we wouldn't need soap in her next bath because she was covered in it!

Here is the food table... everything was round to stick with the bubble theme... 'bubble' ham sandwiches, fruit 'bubbles', cheese and cracker 'bubbles', pretzel 'bubbles', and Daily Bread sandwiches and chips and salsa for the adults. I thought the table looked great!

All the drinks were in tubs that of course coordinated with the color scheme!

The 'cake' table had 'bubble' cookies (Claytons Bakery did a great job!), 'bubble' cupcakes, and donut 'bubbles'

Emmy loved the bubble machines! She kept putting her face right in front of the bubbles and let them pop in her face.

All the kiddos LOVED the bubble guns but I love how this one shows the boys having fun! So typical! :)

A close-up of the dress for my sweet baby.

Gabby helped me make the signs for the different stations... she did such a great job! This station was called "bubble face" and the kids loved peeling the felt shapes and putting them on the bubble wrap. Also, the girls and I painted all the clothes pins with paint colors from the party. It was a fun rainy day activity!

My sister in law, Tara, let me borrow these amazing lanterns! I LOVE THEM! I thought they made the corner look magical and very appropriate for the bubble theme. This station was called Bubble Foam...

I also had various bubble blowing activities scattered throughout the yard... it was cute catching kiddos in the act of discovering different bubble activities.

I had one more station... bubble painting. I set up the easel with 6 different colors of bubble paint for the kiddos to blow onto paper and take home. I can't believe I didn't get a picture! Hopefully someone else did! :)

Here is the birthday girl about to blow out her candles! She loved singing happy birthday!

Cupcake time!

and these were the favors all the littles went home with...I made labels for the bubbles that said...'thanks for popping by! love Emmy'. I also found candy dots and coordinated color m&m's.

It was a great party for such a sweet little girl! I am so glad everything went so well and love planning all these fun details.
Now on to Halloween fun!..

Balloon Glow 2010

Happy Friday! We are looking forward to a great, SUNNY weekend for Emmy's bubble birthday party! I am so excited to finally pull everything together and have some fun with bubbles...

Anyway, last weekend we hit up the balloon festivities (along with everyone else in STL). We love this weekend every year and it has started making the calendar so we don't miss it. This makes 5 years straight... and every year there are more and more people to enjoy it with us! (seriously I should have taken a picture... there were people EVERYWHERE!)

We always park a few miles away and walk to the glow... this is when they set up all the balloons and every so often they all light up at the same time...it is magnificent!

So when we finally arrived at the balloons...these were the faces of the girls...

I love how in awe they are! SO SWEET and innocent!

the post bear was a highlight and I loved all the colors!

Here is the Energizer Bunny... this is the leader of the race the next day.
I love the goldfish balloon too!
It was crazy how close you can get to them...within feet of these huge, hot flames.

It did get a little chilly on the walk back but the girls were troopers and even let me smother... I mean cover them in all pink and green (Gabby now tells me "mom, pink and green are your favorite colors NOT MINE!" MAN!)

We had a great time and then we went to Chill...where else!?
