Chicago Trip!

Hey! Happy Tuesday... (yep I meant to rhyme that!... too much kiddie lit!)

So I have been meaning to post on our little trip to Chicago a few weekends ago... we had a great time visiting my sister!

The girls are so lucky to have so many great Aunts that just love on them!

We (in all crazy-fashion) woke up early Saturday morning and hit the road... actually the real story is that I put the girls to sleep in their outfits for the road trip (despite Dereks objections) knowing we were going to wake them up and put them in the car with the EDT around 7 am... yep if you have a three year old, who no longer wears diapers to sleep, you can guess what happened! At 4:37 am Gabby came into our room soaking wet... YUCK! and of course the girls weren't all matchy-matchy which is just the way I roll people. I opted for coordinating colors instead! :) So we decided since everyone in the house was awake at this point just to leave then. Luckily the girlies went back to sleep in the car.

We arrived in Chi-town around 10:30 with hungry little ones (and mostly DEREK!) so we walked to a nearby park until the appointed lunch spot opened up... Aunt Mary surprised the girls with bubbles while we waited...

I love how the above picture has no grass in it... typical city living!

Aunt Mary got in on the fun!

Then, after a great lunch, we walked to the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed walking through the park and along Lake Michigan. This is such a great city!

The girls enjoyed the zoo but much like their father they enjoyed the snow cone more!

They both had really orange mouths! No chemicals in that snow cone...completely natural...hmmm

The zoo had some great animals and I could have stayed the entire day but unfortunately Derek and Mary were ready to go after a few hours... typical! :)
That night we went to a yummy tapas bar with a sleeping Gabby and a crazy Emmy. It was fun and the Sangria was even better! After dinner we walked over to Navy Pier and watched the fireworks then it was off to bed for all of us...

The next morning we went to my favorite breakfast spot in Chicago... Milk and Honey! It is seriously good. But of course we had to dress up and Aunt Mary had a hair appointment with Miss Emmy. It was quite the process! :) We had a great, short trip to visit Mary in her fabulous city. Looking forward to our next trip soon!
